Set your artwork up for print success! Follow these guidelines to ensure your artwork is print-ready and avoid production delays.
π‘ Pro Tips for Print-Ready Files
- Start and finish your design in CMYK when possible.
- Flatten files prior to sending to Exalt. This eliminates βhiddenβ print challenges that may not show up in a PDF.
- Design your art on the correct size art board. Add crop marks and bleed lines to the art board.
- Ensure crop marks are on the PDF submitted. Keep all text and important elements at least 0.25β from the cut line.
- If there are bleeds, extend them 0.125"-0.25β past the cut line.
- Outline all fonts before saving to PDF.
- If the document is multiple pages, ensure each page is set up correctly and matches the size specifications. For multiple pages, send a separate PDF for each and use the file name to reflect the order.
- Be cautious with gradients. These can cause βbanding,β especially in pastels and greys. Make transitions gradual for smooth results.
Maximum file size per upload is 40 MB.
Reduce file size by resampling images to 300 dpi before export.
Convert all files to CMYK color space.
Cyan: 20 Magenta: 20 Yellow: 20 Black: 100 (Preferred Black Build)
Fonts: Embed or outline all fonts.
Do not exceed 270% total ink.
Excessive ink can cause print issues.
