â ď¸ Exact Size Warning
You have selected "Exact Size" mode. This means kerf will NOT be added to your cut sizes. Make sure this is what you want for your project.
Waste/Falloff Percentage
The waste/falloff percentage accounts for material that cannot be used due to cutting, defects, or layout constraints. For swatches, this is typically around 5-10%, but can be less. If you're doing 3 end joints, odd sizes, random lengths/widths, or herringbone patterns, waste can be upwards of 40%. It depends on how the material lays on the board. If you are worried about this, you can use the falloff estimator below or increase your overage. We don't want you to send too much, but also not too little, as both carry increases in costs.
Overage
Overage is important because, while we want to be as exact as possible, manufacturing and cutting processes require making extra boards to ensure your count is achieved. The overage helps make sure you receive enough material to meet your requirements, accounting for any unexpected issues or errors.
Inbound WoodâFlooring Delivery Guidelines
What to Do | WhyâŻItâŻMatters |
---|---|
Ship full, factoryâsealed cartons / bundles only, strapped to a sturdy pallet. | Loose planks arrive damaged or short; sealed cartons protect edges and simplify counts. |
Label every carton: ⢠SKU / SpeciesâColor ⢠Finish (e.g., UVâOil, Matte Poly) ⢠Lot / BatchâŻ# ⢠Carton SqâŻFt & Piece Count |
Clear labels tie each carton to the correct project and ensure squareâfootage accuracy. |
Verify length mix, milling profile, and finish before shipping. | Exalt audits but will not sort mixed lots or rework tongueâandâgroove issues. |
Shrinkâwrap and cornerâprotect each pallet; insure freight. | Moisture and impact are the biggest risksâproper packaging prevents cupping, cracks, and claim delays. |
Email packing list & BOL 24âŻhrs before arrival to
